WASHINGTON: Three American scientists have been awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics, here on Tuesday.
According to a foreign news agency, the Nobel Prize in Physics has been awarded to John Clark, Michael DeWitt and John Martins. And all three scientists are from the United States.
These scientists were awarded this prize for their discovery of macroscopic quantum mechanical tunneling and quantum energy levels in electrical circuits.
According to a statement issued by the academy, this year’s discovery has paved the way for the next stage of quantum technology. Which includes quantum computing, quantum cryptography and quantum sensors.
Along with the Nobel Prize, a prize money of 1.1 million Swedish kronor (about 1.2 million US dollars) is also given. Which will be divided equally among the three scientists.
It should be noted that the Nobel Prizes were started in 1901. And they are given for outstanding services in fields such as physics, chemistry, medicine, literature, peace and economics. Physics was the first field to be listed in Nobel’s will. And it is still considered the most prestigious award in the scientific world.
Yesterday, the 2025 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine was jointly won by American scientists Mary Brinkow, Fred Ramsdale, and Japanese scientist Shimon Sakaguchi.
The prize was awarded for their research in which they discovered a way to prevent the human immune system from attacking itself (peripheral immune tolerance).
