US-Iran peace deal reached, military operations halted

WASHINGTON: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that a peace deal has been reached between the US and Iran after long and important negotiations.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said in a message on social media that the official signing ceremony of the peace deal will be held in Switzerland on June 19. The Prime Minister, while appreciating the role of Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey in the deal, said that the parties announced an immediate and permanent cessation of military operations on all fronts. The agreement includes a halt to operations on all fronts, including Lebanon.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump confirmed the agreement and said, “Congratulations to everyone, the deal with Iran is complete.” President Trump said that the deal with Iran has been completed, the deal with Iran is complete. He congratulated everyone in this regard and said that the Strait of Hormuz has been opened to toll-free and the US naval blockade of Iranian ports has been lifted. Ships around the world should resume their activities. It is time for oil shipments to resume.

Iranian state media says that Iran has forced the US to accept the peace deal, and the Iranian authorities will respond later.

Earlier, Israel attacked Beirut to stop the US-Iran peace agreement, which dealt a severe blow to the peace talks between the US and Iran to end the ongoing war in the Middle East. US President Donald Trump also expressed his anger at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying that the attack on Beirut was extremely inappropriate. The peace agreement with Iran is still on track and is expected to be signed in the next few hours. However, the Israeli attack on Beirut temporarily delayed this process. The parties should exercise restraint and not attack each other.

Iran’s chief negotiator and speaker of parliament Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has said that after the Israeli attacks on Beirut’s southern suburb of Al-Dahiya, there is no justification left for continuing peace talks with the US. The US either does not intend to fulfill its promises or does not have the capacity to do so. He said that if there is neither the desire nor the capacity to fulfill its promises, then there is no point in continuing negotiations on this path.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi says that regional security cannot be created by ignoring or eliminating Iran. Speaking at a meeting with prominent figures and religious leaders in Tehran, Abbas Araqchi said that the countries of the region have recognized that sustainable security, economic development and regional stability are possible only through mutual cooperation, that understanding and understanding are in the common interests of all countries in the region, including Iran, and that the new security structure of the region requires the participation and collective cooperation of all countries.

Meanwhile, according to Iranian official and semi-official media, Tehran has not yet made a final decision on the proposed agreement with the United States. Hardliners in Iran are opposing the agreement, while differences remain over issues related to the Strait of Hormuz and the nuclear program.

The Israeli army carried out airstrikes in the southern suburbs of Beirut on Sunday, killing at least three people and wounding six. According to the Lebanese Civil Defense, bodies and injured people were pulled from the rubble. Israel said the operation was in response to Hezbollah targets and alleged drone and rocket attacks on northern Israel. According to the Israeli military, Hezbollah attempted three drone attacks, but no casualties were reported.

According to Lebanese officials, Israel also issued evacuation warnings for residents of 29 villages in southern Lebanon, followed by airstrikes and shelling in various areas. The Lebanese army confirmed that personnel were evacuated from a military base in the south due to the imminent Israeli advance.

Israeli forces are reportedly trying to advance on key strategic locations, while Hezbollah has also claimed retaliation. On the other hand, a Qatari delegation arrived in Tehran on Sunday to help finalize the ongoing talks between the United States and Iran. Talks are underway on a possible agreement, with the efforts of Pakistan and other mediators, which was initially expected to be signed on Sunday, but Iran described the timeline as uncertain. According to Iranian officials, no final decision has been made yet and consultations are ongoing.

According to sources, the main differences between the parties remain on issues such as control of the Strait of Hormuz, Iran’s enriched uranium reserves, US sanctions and frozen assets, and the inclusion of the ongoing ceasefire in Lebanon. The US and Israel are demanding that Iran’s nuclear program be dismantled or transferred abroad, while Iran maintains that this process is only possible domestically. In a brief interview with Fox News, Trump said that he still believes that a deal between the US and Iran can be reached within the next two to three hours.

Trump said that he had a telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after today’s Israeli attacks on Beirut. Trump expressed his displeasure and disappointment with the Israeli actions and asked Prime Minister Netanyahu in a harsh tone, “What are they doing?”
