Car sales jump 67% in Jun 2025, highest in three years

Pakistan plans major auto reform: Duties on imported vehicles to be phased out

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Sales of cars in Pakistan recorded 21,773 units in Jun 2025, a 64% YoY and 47% MoM increase, as per Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association and Topline Securities Ltd.

The MoM increase was primarily driven by 39-month high sales of Alto following pre-buying as GST was about to be raised effective from Jul 01, 202,5, from 12.5% to 18.0%.

The YoY growth is underpinned by an improved macroeconomic climate, the launch of additional variants, declining interest rates, softening inflation, and upbeat consumer sentiment.

This pushed FY25 gross sales to 148,023 units, a 43% YoY increase from FY24’s 103,829 units.

Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) registered the maximum MoM growth of 2.4x, led primarily by a 2.8x MoM increase to 9,497 units of Alto retailed in June 2025, a 39-month high. Cultus also increased 2.1x MoM to 523 units, Topline Securities added.

Sazgar Engineering (SAZEW) reported MoM growth of 47% and a 55% YoY increase to 1,349 units, second second-highest monthly sales. The launch of the new facelift of HAVAL also aided in increased sales. In FY25, overall sales grew 2x YoY to 10,844 units compared with FY24’s 5,374 units.

Punjab increases vehicle, bike transfer charges by 10 per cent

Indus Motor Company (INDU) recorded a 25% YoY increase while decreasing 24% MoM to 3,687 units in Jun 2025. Honda Atlas Cars (HCAR) recorded an increase of 65% YoY and a decrease of 10% MoM to 1,808 units in June 2025.

Two and three wheelers sales rose by 54% YoY and off 9% MoM, totalling 138,509 units in Jun 2025. This brings FY25 sales to 1.5mn units, a 32% YoY increase, Topline Securities further stated.

The tractor sector posted sales of 2,791 units, a 32% YoY decline, while 28% MoM increase in Jun 2025. Tractor sale declined on a YoY basis because of poor farm economics, it added.

Trade at the Torkham border resumes after govt extends the validity of TAD. Jun 2025 truck and bus sales increased 2.5x YoY and 21% MoM at 737 units. This brings FY25 sales to 5,232 units a ~2x increase from 2,644 units in FY24.
