KARACHI: The Sindh budget included good news for serving and retired government employees, with the PPP-led provincial government increasing pay and pension by 22 to 30 percent.
CM Murad Ali Shah said that government employees from Grade 1 to 16 will get a 30% increment in their salaries while there is a 22% increase in salaries of Grade 17 officers and above.
It has been decided to boost the salaries of officers in grades 17 and above by up to 22%.
The PPP-led government has planned to enhance government employees’ pensions by 15 percent. The Sindh government has decided to increase the minimum wage to Rs37,000.
Meanwhile, the pension for retired government personnel has been increased by 15% to assist.
Sindh’s budget totals more than Rs3,000 billion. The government has allocated more than Rs900 billion to the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).
Previously, the federal and Punjab governments suggested salary increases of up to 25% for employees.
