ISLAMABAD: The federal government has set a GDP growth target of 4.2% in the budget for 2025–2026, according to media reports.
The Finance Minister, Muhammad Aurangzeb, will present the budget for 2025–2026 in National Assembly today.
Media reports indicates that the current account deficit of 2.1 billion dollars, or -0.5% of GDP, is anticipated for the next fiscal year.
More than Rs4,223 billion is allotted for several development projects across country in the updated National Development Plan.
Over Rs682 billion rupees would go to federal ministries and divisions for their own development initiatives, while Rs2,869 billion is designated for the PSDP.
It is anticipated that the National Highway Authority would get Rs 226.98 billion, Rs90.22 billion to the Power Division and Rs133.42 billion to the Water Resources Division.
Over Rs 105.78 billion would go towards provincial projects out of the Rs 253.23 billion that is recommended for special regions and provincial development-related expenses.
Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan would receive an allocation of Rs 82 billion, while the combined districts will receive more than Rs 65.44 billion.
Over Rs 18.58 billion would be given to federal education and professional training programs, and Rs 11.55 billion will go to the defense division. It is anticipated that the Higher Education Commission (HEC) would get Rs 39.48 billion.
