ISLAMABAD: The Central Power Purchasing Agency has requested to increase the price of electricity by 26 paise per unit as part of the monthly fuel adjustment for March.
NEPRA will hear the request of CPPA today, and the price increase will also be applied to electricity. According to CPPA, 8 billion 93 crore 90 lakh units of electricity were generated in March, the reference cost for March was set at Rs 7.99 per unit.
Improvement in electricity supply, significant reduction in load management during peak hours, and the Power Division CPPA said that 8 billion 64 crore 40 lakh units of electricity were supplied to the discos.
23.55 percent was generated from hydro, 16.76 percent from local coal, 13.80 percent from imported coal, and 5.64 percent from imported LNG.
In addition, in March, 1.02 percent of electricity was generated from furnace oil, 11.34 percent from local gas, 21.95 percent from nuclear fuel, 3.46 percent from wind, and 1.18 percent from solar.
