ISLAMABAD: Minister for Petroleum Musadik Malik announced on Tuesday, August 20 that gas tariffs will remain unchanged for the next three months, providing relief to citizens as winter approaches.
In a press conference, Malik confirmed that there will be no increase in gas rates through December and January. This move is part of the government’s efforts to alleviate the financial burden on the public.
Malik emphasized the government’s commitment to protecting citizens from additional costs, stating that any future relief measures will involve discussions with all provinces.
He also highlighted that the Punjab Government’s Rs14 per unit relief for power consumers using up to 500 units will benefit 98 percent of households.
Additionally, the federal government has already introduced a Rs50 billion subsidy for consumers using up to 200 units nationwide.
On political matters, Malik urged leaders to avoid creating unnecessary disruptions and to participate constructively in parliamentary committees. He criticized certain groups for obstructing the nation’s progress, accusing them of hindering Pakistan’s prosperity.
