Chicken prices receive significant hike in Karachi, Check new rates inside

LAHORE: Consumers in Lahore are facing a sudden and massive hike in the price of chicken, reportedly increasing by a staggering Rs 200 per kg to Rs 697 per kg in a short span of time.

Punjab’s Livestock Department has expressed concern over a disturbing pattern: the alleged connivance of the chicken mafia, who are suspected of raising prices through clandestine WhatsApp groups.

Expressing deep concern over this suspected collusion, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has expressed her determination to take strict action against those responsible for exploiting consumers. To deal with this problem, the Chief Minister has initiated strict measures against poultry farmers and traders. These measures include obtaining stock data from stakeholders to investigate sudden price increases.

Moreover, the Competition Commission of Pakistan has intervened, given the gravity of the situation. The Commission has taken decisive steps by calling on all relevant stakeholders to deal with the abnormal increase in chicken prices.
