LAHORE: Pakistan Railways has declared a 20% fare reduction for Eidul Fitr to offer a benefit to passengers who travel during the holiday season. The discount will apply to passengers traveling on all mail, express, and intercity trains on all three days of Eidul Fitr.
A notification issued by Pakistan Railways states that the promotional fare will also apply to bookings for regular trains. The discounted fare will not apply to trains that are special Eid trains.
Pakistan Railways has also directed all booking offices to continue to apply the 20% fare promotional pricing, to offer efficient and affordable travel to all passengers traveling during Eid.
This fare reduction is part of Pakistan Railways’ effort to facilitate passenger travel during the holiday season. The day before, the railway authorities announced the special Eid train schedule, as special train service will be made available at various destinations throughout the country.
The special Eid trains will include economy class trains, AC Business trains, and AC Standard bogies, as passenger needs vary and special Eid trains are to be operated as the country enjoys the long weekend.
Pakistan’s federal government has also announced holidays for Eidul Fitr 2025, the celebration will occur from Monday, March 31, until Tuesday, April 2.
Eidul Fitr 2025 is likely to be celebrated across Pakistan on Monday, March 31, 2025, which may be the last day of Ramadan (29 days); if sighting the Shawwal crescent occurs early on March 31, 2025, the holiday festivities will likely commence that same day, leading into Tuesday, April 1, 2025. The Shawwal crescent is expected to be sighted on the evening of March 30, 2025.
