ISLAMABAD: According to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), Pakistan has witnessed a significant increase in the livestock population over the past year, with donkeys, buffaloes, sheep and goats showing significant increases.
The number of donkeys in Pakistan increased by 109,000 last year, taking the total population from 5.938 million to 6.047 million.
Buffaloes also saw a significant increase, with their population increasing by 1.378 million. The total number of buffaloes is now 47.688 million, up from 46.310 million last year.
The number of sheep increased by 388,000, taking the total population from 32.731 million to 33.119 million.
Goats, with an increase of 2.358 million, saw the highest increase among all livestock categories. Their total population has increased from 87.035 million to now 89.393 million.
