Pakistan’s fuel crisis concerns grow after dealer’s warning

Pakistan's fuel crisis concerns grow after dealer's warning

KARACHI: A growing diesel shortage is wreaking havoc across Pakistan as the Petrol Pump Dealers Association sounded an alarm, writing to OGRA about a severe scarcity of high-speed diesel at petrol stations.

The association said the petrol pumps have been facing a shortage for over a week now, as supplies had fallen far short of the allocated quota.

It warned that the limited supply was causing disruption in daily operations and had made it almost impossible to meet sales targets.

The association further said that vehicles were being made to stand in long queues for hours, sparking fears that the crisis was not accidental but a result of attempts to manufacture an artificial shortage of petroleum products.

Dealers are now demanding the urgent intervention of authorities to ensure proper distribution, warning that continued delays could create a full-blown fuel crisis that hits motorists and the transport industry hard.
