Petroleum dealers cancel strike after talks with govt

Pakistan has enough fuel reserves for 2 months: Ministry of Finance

KARACHI: After talks with the federal government, the petroleum dealers have withdrawn the strike call given for tomorrow.

As per the details, negotiations were held between Petroleum Minister Dr Musadik Malik and leaders of the Petroleum Dealers Association, which were attended by the OGRA chairman and officials of the Petroleum Ministry.

Reports said that the petroleum dealers opposed the proposal to deregulate fuel prices.

It was agreed that the dealers association would be fully consulted in the process of deregulating the petroleum sector.

The petroleum minister had earlier announced the deregulation of oil sector prices. Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the Petroleum Dealers Association confirmed that the strike call has been canceled after the talks.
