PPP announces nationwide protest against federal budget

budget 2025-26

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has strongly rejected the federal budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 and announced a nationwide protest movement before the budget is approved.

Addressing a press conference, the party’s Peoples Labor Bureau In-charge, Chaudhry Manzoor Ahmed, termed the budget as elite-centric, adding that the budget has been made for the rich, with nothing kept for the working class.

The politician said that the rich have made a budget for the rich, and there is nothing in it for the common man. “Every section of the elite has received financial relief, while the burden continues to fall on the underprivileged,” he said.

He further said that the government has increased the salaries of the Speaker, Chairman Senate and cabinet members immensely, which is being termed as financial obscenity.

The PPP leader announced that he will join hands with trade unions, farmer organizations, and other labor groups to protest vigorously. The government’s economic policies have left the working class behind, while the elite have been given immense relief.

Chaudhry Manzoor termed the government’s possible decision to abolish pensions as a cruel move and said that it would be a complete injustice to the working class.

He said that the government is increasing salaries in every sector by 200 percent but the workers are only being given a marginal increase in proportion to inflation.
