Students’ access to free metro buses and orange train ends tomorrow

LAHORE: The free bus service for students on the metro bus and orange train in Lahore is scheduled to terminate tomorrow, ending a brief benefit.

The free travel benefit will end as a result of the Education Department’s decision, which was made in anticipation of the winter break, which runs from December 18 to January 1

According to the Secretary of Transport Punjab, the free travel benefits—which is valid for students up to class XII—will stop working as of tomorrow.

Fortunately, there is a bright side: the free metro bus service will be reinstated at the end of the winter break.

It’s important to remember that the Punjab government had previously announced a wonderful program that would have allowed seniors, people with disabilities, and students to ride the Orange Line Metro Train and Metro bus for free.

This policy, which aims to improve public convenience and well-being, was especially praised by the provincial minister.

Given the current state of the economy and the rate of inflation, the Punjabi government’s decision to offer free transportation is perceived as a concrete attempt to lessen the burdens that urban residents bear.

It is unclear how the general public’s perception of the scheme’s return following the winter break will change as the temporary suspension comes into force.
