PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur recently launched an excellent proposal – a free laptop scheme for students in the province.

He vowed to match the percentage of laptop recipients in Punjab and said, “If Punjab provides laptops to a certain percentage of students, we will do the same.”

But that is not all-he has also called upon the Punjab Government to provide free health insurance cards to their citizens, just as Sehat Card Plus has been provided to the entire population of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Gandapur reiterated the province’s great initiative in the health sector, which now includes life insurance, and even challenged the Punjab government to extend the same benefits to their people.

Gandapur has now been going on with; the financial aspect of his government, he has raised the revenue by 55% despite financial difficulties. “Punjab’s revenue growth is just 12%. Let them boost theirs to 55% like we did,” he said.

In its quest for better fiscal management, Chief Minister Gandapur announced that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has a budget surplus of Rs176 billion, being the only province to meet the IMF targets set there. Punjab was given an IMF balance target of Rs300 billion; instead, it posted a deficit of Rs146 billion.

The chief minister’s announcement was even better-he declared that the provincial government would shoulder the wedding expenses of 4,000 deserving girls, giving Rs200,000 to each bride.

He has challenged the Punjab Government with the statement: “I am ready for a debate. Punjab’s performance does not even match 1% of ours.” Gandapur was proud of his government’s accomplishments and willing to show them.
