ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has raised the registration price for the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) by 80% in the last two years.
In 2023, the MDCAT cost was set at Rs5,000, which increased to Rs7,000 in 2024. This year, the charge has been doubled to Rs 9,000.
Based on last year’s participation of 32,977 applicants worldwide, PMDC is expected to produce over Rs2.96 billion in income by 2025.
Earlier, the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) announced the registration schedule and test date for the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2025.
In a public notice issued on Thursday, the PMDC said that the entry test would be held on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at 10 am across various designated centres.
Furthermore, it said that the University of Health Sciences (UHS) Lahore will conduct the test for candidates from Punjab, while the Sukkur IBA University will conduct the test for candidates from Sindh.
The statement further added that the Khyber Medical University will be responsible for the test from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while the Bolan University of Medical & Health Sciences (BUMHS), Quetta, will supervise the test for candidates from Balochistan.
In addition to that, the test for candidates from Islamabad, Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, will be conducted by Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU), Islamabad.
MDCAT 2025 registration fee and deadline
The council said that the online registration for the candidates to appear in the MDCAT exam will open on Friday, August 8, and will be available through the PMDC’s online portal. Students can register at the standard fee until August 25.
The last date for registration with a late fee is September 1, 2025.
The regular registration fee for test centres in Pakistan has been fixed at Rs 9,000, up from last year’s Rs 8,500. While late registration fee will be Rs 13,000.
The candidate appearing in the international test centre will pay the standard registration fee of Rs 45,000, while their late fee will be Rs 55,000.
