LAHORE – Punjab closes educational institutions from March 10 to March 31 in response to the global oil crisis, the provincial government announced on Monday.
The decision was made by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz as fuel prices surged sharply due to disruptions in global petroleum supply caused by the Middle East conflict.
All schools, colleges, and universities in the province will remain closed during this period. However, online classes will continue, and examinations will proceed as scheduled to ensure students’ academic progress is not affected.
The provincial authorities emphasized that this temporary closure aims to reduce economic pressure and manage fuel consumption effectively. Students and parents have been advised to follow official updates from educational boards regarding exams and online learning.
This move comes as part of broader measures by Punjab to stabilize public services amid rising living costs and international energy market challenges.
