Punjab CM Maryam to launch Pakistan's first AI university

LAHORE: In a ground breaking advancement in the field of education, Punjab is all set to launch Pakistan’s first ever AI university, with degree offerings in AI, robotics, machine learning, and other cutting-edge fields.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced this vibrant news while launching a laptop distribution program in Faisalabad. She expressed the importunateness of gearing up the students for competition on the global front by noting, “Our students should neither lag nor get inhibited and should shine in everything that they do.”

The Chief Minister also welcomed a loan scheme empowering students to borrow an amount of Rs. 30 million to pursue education, part-time jobs, or business ventures.

In addition, free land will be provided to enable the student development of businesses and contribute positively to the economy.

The government of Punjab also raised its laptop distribution scheme from 30,000 this year to 50,000 next year, with plans to distribute 100,000 laptops to students attaining 65% and above in public universities and colleges.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also stated that she will provide scholarships to students in their third and fourth year of study in general. She humorously mentioned those students who have been using ChatGPT to aid their research, which shows how Pakistan still needs to adopt and promote a culture of academic research.

She elaborated that while China is educating its children about AI at the fifth-grade level, Pakistan is still plagued by age-old narratives about violent tendencies. Hence, she urged concentrated efforts toward modern education to ensure the future of this nation.
