LAHORE: In a recent development, The Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz has launched a special program to protect the school going children from harsh cold in winter season by distributing warm and cozy clothes across province.
According to the sources, 21,000 students from various governmental schools will receive winter clothing under this initiative effective from January 13, 2025.
Students will receive winter attire like sweaters, coats, shoes and uniform under the programme, whereas, the distribution phase will be conducted in Lahore and three other areas including Narowal, Rajanpur, and Layyah with assistance from the Department of Bait-ul-Mal and the Social Welfare Department.
According to the details, the schools eligible for the scheme have been finalized.
Earlier, the Punjab Education Department has announced a revised winter vacation schedule for schools across the province.
As per the revised notification, all schools in Punjab will observe winter vacations from December 23 instead of the previously announced date of December 20, 2024. The break will be effective till January 10, 2025, and will apply to both public and private schools.
