LAHORE: The Punjab Government has chosen to end the Schools of Eminence initiative, which aimed to deliver quality education to students in disadvantaged and rural regions through the use of current school facilities.
Sources reported that the program had a planned budget of PKR 5 billion and its operational period extended from January 1 until June 2026.
However, during the 2025 26 fiscal year, no funds were released, and official documents confirmed that no financial advancement occurred.
The senior minister approved the project approved its cancellation during a mid-year review meeting. The Planning and Development Board (P&D) redirected the financial resources towards different development projects.
Officials announced that the scheme’s termination will enable the government to utilize existing resources in a more effective manner for educational development projects, which will help students throughout Punjab achieve improved results.
