KARACHI: Cardiologists have termed the alarming rate of increase in heart disease in Karachi as dangerous.
According to Dr. Bashir Hanif, founder of the Cardiac Registry of Pakistan, about 35 to 40 thousand heart attack cases are being reported in the city every month, which is a very worrying trend.
12 percent of patients in heart cases are under the age of 40, which indicates that the younger generation is also falling prey to heart disease.
According to Dr. Bashir Hanif, adopting a healthy lifestyle has become the need of the hour, while smoking, diabetes, obesity and high blood pressure are the major causes of heart disease.
