PFA shuts warehouse, confiscates 10, 000kg of substandard skimmed milked powder

LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) seized 10,000 kg of substandard skimmed milk powder by closing a godown at Shabistan Chowk during a raid.

Lahore Police filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the warehouse owner on the complaint filed by the competent authority.

PFA Director General Muhammad Asim Javaid said in a statement that a team raided a warehouse and caught the workers red-handed packing substandard milk powder in fake packaging of well-known brands.

Additionally, powdered milk was placed on the floor without any food safety measures in place.

He said that the raiding team also noticed the presence of insects, flies, mosquitoes and poor cleaning arrangements in the godown.

In addition, the food business operator also failed to submit necessary records, including workers’ medicals, staff training certificates and food licenses. The Director General directed the food business operators to ensure compliance with the rules laid down in the PFA Act.
