KARACHI: National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) reported one case of polio from Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) each, tally reaches 21 during this year.
Pakistan will start a new anti-polio campaign from September 1, 2025, to eradicate polio cases from the country.
The fresh cases were reported from the Lower Dir area of district Kohistan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Badin area of Sindh.
The NEOC urged parents to give their children the polio vaccination to guarantee a bright future and to finish the injection course on time.
Earlier, the Polio virus was identified in a 10-month-old child in the Tank district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to the National Institute of Health (NIH).
The presence of the polio virus has brought the total number of polio cases across the country to 18 this year.
The National Polio Emergency Operations Centre is making a new plan to overcome the challenges faced in the campaign in South Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Officials said efforts are being stepped up to overcome logistical challenges and enhance the quality of immunization campaigns in high-risk locations.
The centre reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating polio via long-term efforts and personalized interventions in at-risk locations.
