MULTA: The Deputy Commissioner of Multan, Muhammad Ali Bukhari, has raised the alarm bell about a candy called “Strawberry Quick“, which he describes as a new edition of “sweet poison”.
According to the DC, this candy is a probable threat to children’s health, which can have disastrous consequences for young consumers.
The Deputy Commissioner even went on to describe “Strawberry Quick” as a “deadly poison” to hook children to “crystal meth” a harmful and addictive drug in candy form.
This indeed is a very worrying scenario, and parents are advised to take utmost care and forbid their children from taking any dubious candy.
However, this candy supply isn’t just limited to Multan but other areas in Peshawar, where unhealthy lollipops are being sold in People’s Market and are indenting children towards ice drug addiction.
The district administration is said to have acted swiftly and has arrested many shopkeepers linked to this nefarious trade and removed the dangerous items from the market to protect children and save society.
Such troubling instances have created an even bigger discussion in general about the necessity of these regulatory measures and campaigns aimed at public awareness and educating families about certain products acting as “sweet poison”.
It is now very necessary for community leaders and parents to intervene in the consumption of candies by children and create a culture of protection for children against harmful substances.
