Balochistan govt declares CNIC as health card

QUETTA: The Balochistan government has taken a major step in the health sector and declared the computerized national identity card as the Balochistan Health Card.

Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti said that this initiative aims to provide modern medical facilities to the people and make the treatment process more convenient and effective.

Under this scheme, patients will be able to get free treatment facilities in major hospitals within Balochistan and across the country.

According to official data, more than 345,000 patients have benefited from this health card program so far. Thousands of important medical operations have been performed through this program, including 7,784 angioplasties and 575 bypass surgeries.

In addition, 304 children suffering from heart diseases have also been provided free treatment.

Furthermore, the program has also provided support in terms of maternal health, under which 24,688 normal deliveries and 20,344 C-section operations were performed.

CM Bugti reiterated that improvement of health facilities is the top priority of his government. He directed that no patient should be deprived of treatment under the Health Card Program, and timely payments to hospitals should be ensured.

This initiative is part of the wider efforts to strengthen the health system in the province and provide quality medical facilities to all citizens.
