Melting Glaciers Threatening livelihoods of Millions, Asian Development Bank

Asian Development Bank (ADB) Managing Director General Woochong Um has warned that the livelihoods of millions of people are at risk due to the melting of glaciers due to climate change.

Addressing the ongoing United Nations Climate Change Conference in Dubai, he drew attention to the effects of climate change.

He said that the livelihood and security of more than 1.6 billion people are threatened by the melting of glaciers.

Woochong Um said that glaciers in the Hindu Kush and Himalayan regions are melting rapidly.

Our new initiatives will enable Bhutan and Nepal to access new information.

He further said that with this awareness, these countries will be able to make effective investments to deal with climate change.
