PTA to block SIMs unused for 180 Days

PTA shares tips to prevent data overcharging

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued a warning regarding the closure of inactive mobile SIMs.

The PTA has said that SIMs that have not been used for six months can be closed. The SIM will be closed if there is no call, message or internet use for 180 days, after the inactive SIM is closed, the number can be issued to any other user.

The announcement said that after the number is reissued, the former user will have no legal claim, a written request or email can be given to the operator to retain ownership of the SIM.

To avoid this situation, the PTA has directed that users continue to use SIMs responsibly to avoid possible problems.

This warning has been given by the PTA to ensure that the use of all mobile SIMs is regular and active so that any illegal activities can be avoided through unused SIMs.

This move is an attempt to improve the security of the telecommunications system in Pakistan to ensure the protection of user data and other important information.

The PTA also said in its announcement that all mobile operators have been instructed to start this process immediately and inform users about this change so that they do not face any problem.
