The Imran Khan eye diagnosis has confirmed that the former Pakistani prime minister is experiencing vision impairment in his right eye, according to a fresh medical report issued by the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad. The report has also been delivered to his family, sources said.
Doctors examined the 74-year-old Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder after he complained of reduced eyesight. A senior and certified ophthalmologist conducted a detailed assessment at Adiala Jail with Khan’s consent. Medical specialists later diagnosed him with right central retinal vein occlusion, a condition that can restrict blood flow from the retina and affect vision if not treated promptly.
The examination included slit-lamp testing, fundoscopy, measurement of intraocular pressure, necessary laboratory tests, and optical coherence tomography of the retina. Based on the initial findings, physicians recommended immediate follow-up treatment at the hospital.
Subsequently, Khan was transferred to PIMS late at night between Saturday and Sunday. Doctors fully briefed him on the procedure before administering an anti-VEGF intravitreal injection. The treatment took place in an operating theatre under standard medical protocols and was completed successfully in about 20 minutes.
Hospital officials confirmed that consent was obtained before the procedure. Moreover, they described the intervention as successful, noting that Khan remained stable throughout the process. After treatment, he was discharged with follow-up instructions for continued monitoring.
The executive director of PIMS forwarded the detailed report to jail authorities on the prime minister’s instructions, the administration said. While the Imran Khan eye diagnosis indicates an affected right eye, doctors reported that his overall health is satisfactory.
Central retinal vein occlusion is often linked to age-related vascular changes and requires timely care to prevent further complications. Early treatment with anti-VEGF injections can help control swelling and protect remaining vision, medical experts note.
Officials reiterated that specialists carried out a thorough evaluation and will continue to monitor his recovery. Meanwhile, sources confirmed that the medical report has reached Khan’s family, ensuring they remain informed about his condition and ongoing care.
