Mobile internet suspension in Balochistan was enforced on Pakistan Day due to security concerns, officials confirmed on Monday.
The decision affected Quetta and most districts of the province. Authorities said the step was taken to prevent any possible security incident during the national day.
In Quetta, public transport services including Green and Pink buses were also temporarily stopped. Officials said this was part of wider safety measures.
The government explained that the mobile internet suspension in Balochistan was necessary due to the current security situation. The aim was to ensure public safety and avoid any untoward incident.
Officials apologised to citizens for the inconvenience caused by the shutdown. They said services would be restored once the situation becomes normal.
Meanwhile, services were also suspended in Pishin where a political gathering was taking place. The rally was organised by the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP).
The gathering was led by Mahmood Khan Achakzai and attended by several political leaders. Among them were Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and other party representatives.
Authorities remained on high alert throughout the day. Security arrangements were tightened across sensitive areas of the province.
