Pakistani Doctors restore vision of premature twin babies in successful eye treatment

Pakistani Doctors

Pakistani Doctors achieved an important medical success by saving the eyesight of premature twin babies at Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital. The babies were born early and were at risk of losing their vision.

The seven-month-old twins, Ibrahim and Ismail, were diagnosed with Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP). This condition affects the eyes of babies born before time. Doctors immediately started treatment to prevent permanent damage.

The children’s mother said timely care helped protect her sons’ eyesight. She expressed relief and thanked the medical team for their efforts.

Doctor Amjad said regular eye screening is very important for premature babies. He explained that around one million babies are born early every year. Babies weighing less than 1.5 kilograms at birth face a higher risk of vision problems.

He also said balanced oxygen levels can reduce the chances of ROP. The hospital has treated about 19,000 children under its special ROP program so far.

This success shows the importance of early diagnosis and proper medical care to save children’s vision.
