Trump warns massive retaliation as tensions rise after Israel’s reported strike on Iran’s key gas field. The warning came as missile exchanges hit Gulf countries and energy markets reacted sharply.
The situation escalated on Wednesday when Iran’s South Pars gas field was targeted. This is one of the world’s largest natural gas reserves, shared with Qatar. The attack pushed oil prices higher and raised fears of supply disruption.
According to reports, missiles were fired towards Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Qatar’s Ras Laffan Industrial City, a major gas processing hub, suffered serious damage. Saudi Arabia said it intercepted multiple missiles aimed at Riyadh and destroyed a drone targeting a gas facility.
Trump warns massive retaliation if Iran responds further. He said Israel acted independently and claimed the United States had no prior knowledge of the strike. He also stressed that Qatar was not involved in the attack.
Iran, however, warned it could target energy infrastructure across the Gulf. Early Thursday, more strikes were reported near gas facilities in Qatar, causing fires and damage to liquefied natural gas plants.
Trump stated that Israel would not carry out more attacks unless Iran targets Qatar again. He added that if Tehran takes such action, the United States could respond strongly, including possible action against the South Pars field.
The conflict has already disrupted global energy markets. South Pars plays a major role in gas supply, and any damage there affects international prices and availability.
Since the conflict began in late February, Iran has launched attacks on Israel and locations linked to US presence in the Gulf. There are also reports that Washington may deploy more troops to secure key oil routes, especially near the Strait of Hormuz.
Meanwhile, foreign ministers from several Muslim countries met in Riyadh and condemned attacks on civilian infrastructure. They called for an immediate halt to escalation and warned of possible consequences if tensions continue.
Trump warns massive retaliation as the crisis deepens, with no clear signs of de-escalation. The ongoing conflict is now affecting regional stability and global energy security.
