Qatar diplomacy stance was highlighted by the country’s Foreign Ministry as it stressed support for dialogue but warned it would respond to any new attack.
The statement came from Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari during a briefing on the current regional tensions.
Al-Ansari said there has been only one direct contact between Qatar and Iran since the start of the recent tensions.
He explained that the communication happened at the beginning of the crisis between the Qatari prime minister and the Iranian foreign minister.
Despite the situation, he said communication channels between Qatar and Iran have not been cut.
According to him, Qatar diplomacy stance remains focused on reducing tensions and encouraging negotiations to resolve disputes peacefully.
Al-Ansari also said the apology from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian had initially created hope for easing tensions.
However, he noted that further attacks targeting Qatar, the UAE, and Bahrain happened afterward.
The spokesperson added that Qatar was working with other Gulf countries to prepare a joint statement about the conflict.
But he said Iran did not give enough time for a response after the apology.
Al-Ansari stressed that Qatar is not a party to the ongoing conflict.
He added that while Qatar diplomacy stance is based on diplomacy and dialogue, the country will not hesitate to defend itself if another attack occurs.
