66 candidates enter race across four Diamer constituencies

DIAMER: Political activity has intensified in the Diamer district ahead of the 2026 Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly Elections 2026, where 66 candidates are contesting across all four constituencies.

With the election campaign in full swing, political parties and independent candidates have stepped up rallies, corner meetings, and public outreach campaigns, creating a charged political atmosphere throughout the district.

According to official election data, Diamer district has a population of 337,329, while the total number of registered voters stands at 160,602.

The voter list includes 82,529 male voters and 78,073 female voters. Election authorities have established 167 polling stations across the district to facilitate voters, while the district administration says all arrangements for transparent and peaceful elections have been finalized alongside strict security measures.

In GBA-15 Diamer-I, a total of 26 candidates are contesting, with 50 polling stations established for 46,179 voters.

GBA-16 Diamer-II has 15 candidates in the race and 45 polling stations for 46,264 voters.

Meanwhile, 14 candidates are contesting in GBA-17 Diamer-III, where 46 polling stations have been set up for 41,260 voters.

In GBA-18 Diamer-IV, 11 candidates are participating, while 26 polling stations have been arranged for 26,899 voters.

According to officials, Muhammad Owais Abbasi is supervising the overall election process in the district.

Political analysts believe strong competition is expected in all four constituencies, with development projects, employment, education, healthcare, and basic public facilities emerging as key election issues.
