PIA begins pre-Hajj 2026 operations for 55,000 pilgrims

LAHORE: Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf has said that 90,000 Pakistanis will perform Hajj this year under the government Hajj scheme.

Addressing a press conference in Lahore, the Minister for Religious Affairs said that Hajj flight operations under the government scheme are likely to start from April 29.

He said that preparations for Hajj, including vaccination and training, are well underway.

He said that Hajj training sessions are scheduled to begin from April 8, and pilgrims are being informed about all necessary health protocols, including vaccination requirements.

This year, the cost of the Hajj package for short-term pilgrims is Rs 11,50,000 and for long-term pilgrims is Rs 10,50,000.

He said that he met Saudi officials and inspected the Hajj arrangements in the country.

He also clarified that Umrah visas are usually suspended before the Hajj season to smoothen the Hajj operations.
