Authorities Collect Over Rs12.5 Billion in Traffic Fines

Punjab Traffic Police imposed a fine of Rs.70 million in 48 hours

LAHORE: During the last 6 months, large-scale actions were taken across Punjab for violations of traffic laws, and more than 5.4 million challans were issued, from which a total of more than 12 billion 500 million rupees were collected.

According to the data, challans were issued to 2 million citizens for the violation of not wearing a helmet, from whom a fine of more than 4 billion rupees was collected. Similarly, challans were issued to 791 thousand people for driving without a driving license, as a result of which more than one billion 400 million rupees were collected in the national treasury.

According to the report, strict actions were also taken on over speeding, signal violation, wrong parking and other traffic law violations, under which fines of more than 3 billion 840 million rupees were imposed.

Traffic police officials say that the aim of these operations is to establish order on the roads, reduce accidents, and raise awareness among citizens about obeying traffic rules.
