Adiala Jail prisoner escapes from Hospital

Adiala Jail superintendent transferred as part of jail reforms

RAWALPINDI: A prisoner brought to hospital for treatment from Adiala Jail has escaped, prompting a police chase.

According to sources, the prisoner was brought to Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH) from Adiala Jail for treatment, from where he escaped. Accused Jamil was arrested in a drug smuggling case and convicted by the court.

Police sources say that a case has been registered at Waris Khan police station regarding the escape of the accused. Police ASI Imran Ahmed and Constable Qamar Ali, who were posted on duty, have been named as accused in the case.

The text of the case states that an unknown person, including Adnan, took the escaped accused out of the ward on a wheelchair. The accused, who was undergoing treatment, was taken away by his son Adnan and an unknown person in a car.

A case was registered against the accused in the Counter Narcotics Force Punjab last year. The accused was sentenced to 9 years in prison by the court after being found guilty of drug smuggling.

In addition, the court also sentenced the accused to a fine of Rs. 180,000.
