AJK Election Commission registers three more political parties

MUZAFFARABAD: The Azad Jammu and Kashmir Election Commission has registered three aditional political parties as political parties on 21.05.2026 after a thorough review of the documents submitted for the application by them.

2. Pakistan Peoples Party (Shaheed Bhutto), Azad Jammu and Kashmir
3. Humwatan Kashmir Yawasta Bazu

As per the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Election Plan, the last date for registration of political parties is 30th May 2026. In order to make the registration effective for more political parties while fulfilling the requirements of the law, this period has been extended by 10 days.

Now the registration of political parties will continue till 10th June 2026. It should be noted that political parties fulfilling the eligibility and necessary criteria prescribed under the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Election Act 2020 can submit their applications to the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Election Commission along with the required documents by June 10, 2026.

It is also clarified that the news circulating on social media that the Election Commission of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has approved the registration of non-political parties is baseless, misleading, and contrary to facts.

The Election Commission has not approved the registration of any political party; the previous registrations of political parties had expired in light of the decision of the Supreme Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The current process of registration is ongoing in accordance with the decision of the Supreme Court and the Election Act 2020.
