MUZAFFARABAD: The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has officially suspended all operational time limits for commercial establishments across the region, allowing markets, shopping malls, and eateries to operate late into the night.
According to the newly issued official notification, the temporary relaxation remains effective until June 1, 2026. This administrative decision completely amends the previous directives issued on April 7, 2026, which had enforced strict early closing hours on the business community.
The policy shift aims to stimulate economic activity and ease public inconvenience. Under the new guidelines, a wide range of commercial sectors can resume normal, late-night operations, including:
- Retail Hubs: Shopping malls, wholesale markets, and independent shops.
- Hospitality Sectors: Hotels, motels, and guest houses.
- Food Outlets: Restaurants, cafes, and local dhabas.
Government officials stated that the decision was taken to accommodate the needs of local traders and the general public, providing maximum flexibility for shopping and commercial trading. Furthermore, the relaxation is expected to significantly benefit the region’s tourism sector by ensuring that food and accommodation services remain accessible to travelers at all hours.
