ISLAMABAD (Basharat Abbasi): The Prime Minister AJK, Faisal Rathore has terminated Deputy Commissioner Inland Revenue Chaudhry Azhar from service.
Sources say that the reports received by the Prime Minister included important points related to the alleged activities of the cigarette mafia and the role of some government officials, after which the matter was reviewed at the highest level.
According to government sources, the Prime Minister has issued instructions to take strict action against elements involved in tax evasion, illegal cigarette trade and revenue loss. In this regard, instructions have also been given to the relevant institutions to complete a transparent investigation and identify the responsible persons.
According to sources, the government is trying to take effective steps against the mafia that is damaging the national exchequer so that the revenue system can be made more transparent and strong.
Further progress on the matter and possible administrative changes are also being expressed, while a report has been sought from the relevant authorities.
