RAWALPINDI: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Tuesday discharged former prime minister Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi in 12 cases related to the May 9 mayhem.
ATC Rawalpindi Judge Malik Ejaz Asif presided over the hearing at the Adiala Jail in which the judge rejected the police’s request seeking Busra Bibi’s physical remand in May 9 cases.
During the hearing, defense counsels gave arguments requesting physical remand to investigate the former first lady, whereas, her lawyer Salman Safdar presented counterarguments against the police’s requests.
The investigation officer requested time to investigate the PTI Founder Imran Khan’s wife concerning the attack on the GHQ, among several other sensitive cases.
On August 16, the police approached the ATC to obtain a physical remand of Bushra Bibi in the May 9 cases and initially, a request was made to include the former first lady in the investigation.
However, the ATC refused to give her physical remand, maintaining that the remand could not be given unless the accused was presented before the court.
