RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi’s Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Monday rejected the bail plea of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan‘s wife Bushra Bibi in cases related to May 9.
The court headed by Judge Malik Ijaz Asif has ordered the police to complete the investigation of these cases in the next seven days.
Bushra Bibi’s interim bail pleas were rejected at the hearing in Adiala Jail as the court insisted on the need for investigation into several allegations levelled against her.
The court remarked that when an accused is arrested in so many cases, investigation is necessary and adjourned the hearing of all related cases till August 22.
The May 9 cases, involving more than 500 suspects, have led to significant legal action. The presence of all 500 suspects was marked.
Several high-profile figures, including Imran Khan, Sheikh Rashid, Shibli Faraz, Ghulam Sarwar, Sadaqat Abbasi, Shireen Mazari, and Azam Swati, were also present during the hearing at the specially arranged courtroom within Adiala Jail.
PTI founder Imran Khan was also produced in the court room set up in Adiala Jail.
The cases began with the tragic events of May 9, which led to widespread unrest and a series of arrests and prosecutions.
