ATC issues bailable arrest warrant for Aleema Khan

Aleema Khan

RAWALPINDI: The Anti-Terrorism Court Rawalpindi has issued a bailable arrest warrant for Aleema Khan, the sister of PTI founder Imran Khan.

The case is related to the November 26 protest, which was registered against 10 accused, including Aleema Khan, at the Sadiqabad police station.

All the other accused appeared in the court in the hearing today, but Aleema Khan did not appear.

On her behalf, lawyers Faisal Malik and Hasnain Sumbal applied for an exemption from appearance, but the court rejected this application.

Prosecutor Zaheer Shah took the position that the two lawyers did not submit Aleema Khan’s power of attorney; therefore, they cannot act on her behalf.

Agreeing with the prosecutor’s position, the court dismissed the exemption application and issued a bailable arrest warrant for Aleema Khan.

The court adjourned the further hearing of the case until October 11. The hearing was conducted by Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Amjad Ali Shah
