LAHORE: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, while addressing the ceremony of providing 720 free flats to the workers, said that today is a happy day for the workers because they have been blessed with their own roof and personal home.
She said that having their own home is the dream of every person and after getting a house, the worries of the landlord end.
The Chief Minister said that in the current era of inflation, it has become difficult for the common man to meet the expenses of the house, while building a house is a big challenge. She said that whether rich or poor, when a person gets his own house, the shadow of security comes over the head of his children and his life’s hard work feels successful.
Maryam Nawaz said that the welfare projects that Nawaz Sharif started in the Labor Department about 40 years ago have become a tall tree today. She said that Nawaz Sharif is very happy that 720 families have received the keys to their houses.
The Punjab Chief Minister said that a laborer earning Rs 40,000 per month cannot decide whether to pay the rent of the house or meet the needs of the children. That is why the government is providing free houses to the laborers without any compensation so that they can live a happy life.
He said that today 720 families have been given houses while another 500 houses are ready in Taxila, more than 5,000 laborers will be provided houses in the next three years. He also announced that the laborers will be given three marla plots and easy loans to build houses.
Maryam Nawaz said that under the “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” scheme, one lakh houses have been completed in just one and a half years, which is a unique example of its kind in the world, one lakh families have moved into their houses while 65,000 houses are under construction. The government has set a target of completing 5 lakh houses in the next three and a half years.
He said that like “Sathra Punjab”, the “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” scheme has also become a successful model. The Chief Minister announced that land will be provided to those who do not have land and loans will be given to build houses.
The Chief Minister of Punjab said that ration cards have been issued to 1.5 million workers at a cost of Rs 40 billion, through which the workers are being given financial assistance of Rs 3,000 per month. He directed the relevant institutions to ensure the provision of protective equipment for the lives and safety of workers at construction sites.
Finally, Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that the real aim of governments is to create convenience in the lives of the people. She appealed for prayers and said that Allah will grant them the ability to reach the homes of every poor person.
