Customs seizes smuggled goods worth millions at Islamabad International Airport

Islamabad airport issues clarification regarding fake news circulating online

ISLAMABAD: Customs authorities at Islamabad International Airport have seized smuggled goods worth millions of rupees from passengers arriving on an Airblue flight from Dubai, sources said.

According to officials, more than six consignments were intercepted on flight PA-217, which landed at the airport late at night.

The seized items included expensive mobile phones, iPads, silver, and other high-value goods.

Sources said the goods were detected during inspection despite strict monitoring by the Assistant Collector of Customs.

However, attempts were allegedly being made to clear some consignments after the flight’s arrival.

Officials added that the late landing coincided with a shift change, during which the smuggling attempt was uncovered. Authorities confiscated all suspicious items and initiated further checks.

Higher authorities are expected to order a formal inquiry into the incident to determine how multiple consignments managed to arrive on a single flight and whether any officials were involved.
