Date for KP hunting season 2026 revealed

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wildlife Department has announced the start of the hunting season in KP from February 15, with strict regulations to protect wildlife.

Hunters will be permitted to hunt waterfowl only on Saturdays and Sundays until the date of March 15. Every hunter needs to obtain a shooting license, which costs Rs. 6,000 and allows them to hunt up to five birds daily.

The use of MP3 players or any electronic devices for hunting purposes is completely forbidden. The authorities have enforced a hunting prohibition across Lower and Upper Chitral sensitive areas, which include Shandur Lake, Broghil Valley, and Tor Khos, because these locations now exist as fully protected zones.

The authorities will take legal action against violators who break wildlife protection laws. The Wildlife Department urged hunters to follow all rules to ensure the safety of wildlife and natural habitats.

The authorities will conduct regular patrols throughout the entire season to check compliance with established rules.
