DG ISPR appreciates Iran’s role in deescalating regional tensions

ISLAMABAD: In a recent development, the Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lt Gen Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry has commended the significance of Irans diplomatic initiative to defuse tensions in the region, adding that brotherly countries can offset tension, thus ensuring peace and stability in South Asia, together.

Iran was possibly one of the very few States, if not the only State, that had offered a mediation role to alleviate tensions between India and Pakistan right after India blamed Pakistan for the Pahalgam attack, without  providing a single shred of evidence.

In an exclusive interview with Irans official news agency, IRNA, DG ISPR stated that Pakistan is deeply grateful for Tehrans intervention, assisting to underpin calm in the region.

Yes, we appreciate all efforts from the international community and also from brotherly countries like Iran, as they went into reducing tensions, referring to the recent encounter that took place between the Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and Pakistan’s figures.

Araqchi called on India and Pakistan to exercise restraint as he arrived in Islamabad for a one-day visit on May 5, and the two nuclear-armed states had been engaging in a backandforth of accusations regarding the Pahalgam attack.

DG ISPR emphasized that certain forces, with the assistance of outside elements, are trying to create differences among friends. “We must be alert about those who are trying to create misunderstandings between the brotherly nations,” he cautioned.

He also stated that the relationship between Iran and Pakistan is historic and longstanding. Whenever both have found themselves in difficult times, they have supported one another, he declared.

Iran and Pakistan have a historical brotherly relationship, and they have been each others support. UK, US working towards a lasting India-Pakistan ceasefire: Lammy, DG ISPR emphasized the strategic significance of both nations, stating Iran and Pakistan are in close contact on several issues and are cooperating on their border.

We are two important and significant nations in the region, and we are cooperating to achieve lasting peace and stability in the region, he stated.
