ECP prepares election code of conduct draft for social media

ECP starts implementation of Supreme Court verdict on reserved seats

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has prepared a draft of a code of conduct specifically for social media in preparation for upcoming elections, as reported by a private news channel. According to ECP sources, social media activists will be issued cards for the general elections and will be required to take a statement on oath committing to comply with the code of conduct.

Key points from the code of conduct draft include:

  • Social media activists will be allowed to observe polling stations from within but will not be permitted to seek votes for any specific political party.
  • They are prohibited from attempting to influence voters through social media.
  • Social media activists are not allowed to capture footage of the internal premises of polling stations.
  • These measures are likely aimed at regulating the use of social media during elections to ensure fairness and prevent any undue
influence on the electoral process.Read more: ECP to hold Important Meeting ahead of Elections amid Security Concerns
