KARACHI: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has demanded a 50 percent increase in the salaries and pensions of government employees in the federal budget, while also proposing to increase the monthly wage to Rs 60,000.
According to details, two of the biggest and most important demands of the Pakistan Peoples Party have come to the fore before the approval of the federal budget for the next fiscal year.
PPP sources said that the party has placed budget proposals before the government to provide relief to the poor and the employed class.
Keeping in mind the ongoing economic situation and inflation in the country, the PPP has demanded a 50 percent increase in the salaries and pensions of government employees,
The party’s position is that this increase has become inevitable in proportion to the current rate of inflation.
In addition, the PPP has also proposed to increase the minimum monthly wage in the country to Rs 60,000 for the poor laborers.
According to sources, the party is strongly against any new taxes and measures to increase the petroleum levy in the budget.
The PPP says that the government is already collecting excessive taxes and levies from the people, now it would be injustice to burden the people further.
The PPP has advised the government to find other new and unconventional ways to increase the country’s revenue instead of imposing new taxes on the poor.
Sources have revealed that the government is refusing to accept the PPP’s demands regarding salary and pension, which has created a situation of political and economic uncertainty.
