ISLAMABAD: In a ground breaking development, the Federal Investigative Agency (FIA) Islamabad circle, in a war against human traffickers, has achieved a great success by arresting the most wanted human trafficker, Nisar Ahmed Jija, involved in sending citizens to Europe through illegal channels.
Nisar Ahmed’s method of operation has historically included cheating millions of rupees from innocent citizens under the guise of employment opportunities, before smuggling them through Libya to Europe.
The man had been in the wanted list of the FIA Islamabad Circle for the last ten years, and he had been in an overnight intelligence-based operation to arrest him for about the last three days.
The arrest of Nisar Ahmed is a great achievement for the FIA, and more arrests are expected since he is being interrogated, and it is hoped that he would divulge the names of his accomplices in this horrific business of human trafficking.
A case had been instituted against him in the FIA human trafficking circle in 2014, and it is shocking that he was able to evade arrest for so long. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed the administration to go for strict punitive action within a week against the culprits engaged in human trafficking.
He has also ordered the establishment of a committee under the interior minister for the development of a long-lasting solution to eradicate human trafficking.
Human trafficking is a major problem confronting many Global South individuals trying to illegally enter through European frontiers, with the life of many endangered.
A tragic incident occurred last year in which an overcrowded boat sank in the sea, killing one hundred Pakistanis. Though such disasters happen, people have just ignored things and are still attempting to crass borders. It is, therefore, highly important that the authorities act strongly to avert such tragedies.
