SARGODHA: In a recent development, in the fight against human trafficking, the Punjab police busted a gang in Sargodha and rescued two abducted female college students.
The girls, both second-year students at Government Degree College, had gone missing three months ago, later it emerged that the students were lured by the gang on promises of a job abroad.
Fortunately, the police could track them down and retrieve the girls after raids in at least 11 cities. The international gang had intended to sell the girls abroad, but thanks to swift action by the police, their plans were foiled. The leader of the gang has been arrested and the police are still hunting other members.
This has also been uncovered by the investigation that there are more girls in the possession of the gang, whom the police are working to rescue. It is a scary reminder of how widespread human trafficking has become in our society, and the importance of sustained efforts against such a horrible crime.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has also been working against human trafficking, and yesterday, it arrested two human traffickers from Gujranwala.
The accused included Ziaur Rehman and Ijaz Ahmed, who were selling fake visas to the people with the help of agents in different areas of Pakistan and were also engaged in making and selling fake passports, visa stickers, and other travel documents.
From the Shadman Colony area of Gujrat, the FIA recovered a large number of fake visa stickers and machines used in the production of fake visa stickers with passports from various countries, such as Europe, China, the UK, and the US.
This has dealt a severe blow to the human trafficking network and is a result of the extensive efforts made by the FIA towards effective combating of this crime.
By continuation of the investigation process, it is hoped more girls will be rescued while culprits will finally reach justice.
